There are days in journalism you get excited about. Sunday was one of those days, as we published a project that started in November when a local man was taken by U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and later deported. Grace Chinowsky and former Lookout photographer Isaac Wasserman spent this year documenting what happens when a father is taken away from a family and how that family handles that adversity.
Their reporting included a trip to Santa Ana Ahuehuepan, Mexico, where they spent time with Misael Garcia Lopez as he rebuilds his life and was briefly reunited with his daughter Jasmine, who traveled from Eugene to see her father for the first time since his detainment.
