A Lane County Sheriff’s Office deputy who worked in the jail has resigned after being arrested as part of an FBI investigation into online sexual exploitation of children.

Dylan Ford had been placed on unpaid leave after his arrest by the FBI Tuesday, July 28, according to the sheriff’s office.

Ford was employed for about 7½ years with the sheriff’s office. Ford was a corrections-certified employee whose duties involved court security and in-custody transports, a sheriff’s office spokesperson has said.

“LCSO will still complete the internal labor investigation and submit the completed findings to the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training for board review of his corrections certification,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement Monday, Aug. 3.

Ford remains in federal custody after a magistrate judge Wednesday, July 29, denied his request to be released on electronic home monitoring.
