Deep Creek Fire

Started: Aug. 31, 2026
Status: 0% contained
Size: 60 acres
Location: Willamette National Forest about halfway between Blue River and Oakridge
Latest: Firefighters continue to work the now 60-acre wildfire burning 25 miles northeast of Lowell in the Fall Creek area Tuesday, according to the U.S. Forest Service. Cool weather and rain “moderated fire activity and minimized growth,” according to a U.S. Forest Service announcement. The fire still remains zero percent containment as crews continue to work to suppress the blaze. (See story.)

Sand Prairie Fire

Started: Aug. 26, 2026
Status: 50% contained
Size: 80 acres
Location: About 2 miles south Hills Creek Reservoir, or about 15 miles south of Oakridge
Latest: Firefighters managed to stop forward progression of the fire after burning to a total estimated size of about 80 acres. Pockets of grass and shrubs continue to burn in the interior as crews continue mop-up efforts. Rain this week is expected to help crews as part of full suppression efforts. Nearby Sand Prairie Campground remains closed. (See story.)

Past 2026 Lane County fires

Jasper Creek Fire

Started: Aug. 25, 2026
Size: 1 acre
Status: Contained
Location: About 10 miles south of Cottage Grove near the border between Lane and Douglas counties, 3 miles east of Black Butte.
Latest: Oregon Department of Forestry responded to the fire, burning on Weyerhaeuser timberland. The fire was largely controlled within a couple of hours, officials said. (See story.)

Fire on Skinner Butte

Started: Aug. 18, 2026
Size: 2 acres
Status: 100% contained
Location: Skinner Butte
Latest: Around 25 personnel from Eugene Springfield Fire responded shortly after smoke was reported around 12:30 p.m. Crews successfully extinguished the main fire around 1:15 p.m. and spent the afternoon mopping up and cooling hotspots to prevent reignition. While the fire chief on Monday mentioned a discarded cigarette near the burn, police said Tuesday they suspected a firework as a possible cause.

Harness 1310 Fire

Started: Aug. 11, 2026
Size: 25 acres
Status: 100% contained
Location: 16 miles south of Cottage Grove
Latest: Initially spread quickly through timber and logging debris. About 80 firefighters were working the fire — with engines, bulldozers, helicopters and a fixed-wing plane. The Oregon Department of Forestry and the Douglas Forest Protective Association responded, with help from timberland-owner Weyerhaeuser. No structures were burned and no evacuations took place. Unnamed fire in Three Sisters Wilderness

Started: Aug. 7, 2026
Size: 17 acres
Status: 100% contained
Location: 4.5 miles north of Waldo Lake in the Three Sisters Wilderness
Latest: Helicopters, smokejumpers and crews arrived by foot to the fire, delivering 225,000 gallons of water and completing a handline around the perimeter of the main fire within three operational periods.

Southeast Springfield vegetation fire

Started: Aug. 12, 2026
Size: 16 acres
Status: 100% contained
Location: Near the intersection of Jasper and Mt. Vernon roads along the southeast edge of Springfield.
Latest: The fire has been contained. No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported, however the fire had prompted sheriff’s deputies and other officials to go door-to-door, alerting nearby residents near the fire. (See story)

Fire near Goshen

Started: July 31, 2026
Location: Highway 58 near Seavey Loop Road between Goshen and Mount Pisgah
Size: 4 acres
Status: 100% contained
Latest: Pleasant Hill Goshen Fire & Rescue, along with Eugene Springfield Fire, the Oregon Department of Forestry, Lowell and Dexter fire protection districts, and South Lane County Fire and Rescue were working on the fire. No injuries were reported. (See story)

Hells Hill Fire

Started: July 22, 2026
Location: 4 miles southeast of Marcola, on Bureau of Land Management forestland
Size: 9 acres
Status: 100% contained
Latest: Oregon Department of Forestry, Mohawk Valley Rural Fire District and BLM were working the fire. No homes were being threatened. (See story)

Jasper-Lowell Road brush fire

Started: July 18, 2026
Status: Extinguished
Location: About 5 miles northwest of Lowell along Jasper-Lowell Road
Latest: Sparks from a vehicle ignited four fires, threatening several structures. The fires were brought under control within a few hours. (See story)

Lorane Highway vegetation fire

Started: July 5, 2026
Status: Extinguished
Location: About 5 miles southwest of Eugene along Lorane Highway
Size: 5.5 acres
Latest: Response from multiple agencies including Oregon Department of Forestry Western Lane District, Lane Fire Authority, and South Lane Fire and Rescue. ODF sent two water tenders, one Type 4 engine and one Type 6 engine.
