Lookout Staff Pick: La Queretana
Some people go to the farmers market to stock up on their weekly produce. Others go to pick up fresh bouquets, pick-me-ups for loved ones or to brighten up a workspace. I go for the tacos. With rainbow-colored tortillas made from scratch from fruits and vegetables, La Queretana is a staple of my week โ get one cochinita, get one barbacoa, hit โem with plenty of fresh lime juice and youโre in for a treat.

Lookout Staff Pick: Hirons
Hirons wins this category and I endorse this. Where else can you go to find candles for your advent wreath, a soap dish, gift wrap and allergy meds? I love how the items seemed to be crammed in willy nilly, but the staff knows how to find everything. When my aunt comes to visit from California (and my aunt has great taste), a stop at Hirons is a must for her. Sheโs entertained for a good long time.ย

Mindyโs Needlepoint, owned and operated by Mindy herself, is an inspiring, whimsical space and an original cornerstone of the 5th Street Public Market. With items stocked floor to ceiling, itโs like the chic cousin of Hironโs (another local favorite of mine). Think (affordable!) cashmere, fingerless gloves sourced during Mindyโs travels to Paris; quirky socks suitable for anyone in your life; playful clothing, yarn and other unique tchotchkes. Mindyโs is fantastic!
