Best Pizza

Winner: Hey, Neighbor!
Two locations in Eugene, and a food truck spot at Lovely in Springfield.
The slate of gourmet pizzas at Hey, Neighbor! include a pie for every kind of pizza lover, from the traditional flavors to adventurous offerings like the Maiale e Mele (proscuitto, gorgonzola and apple) or the (Sheโs My) Cherry Pie, with chรจvre, spiced cherry chutney and hot honey.
Runner-up: Osteria DOP
1122 Oak St, Eugene 97401
The walk-in Italian spot punches above its weight for classy antipasti, pasta dishes and more. But just because theyโre pizza doesnโt make the wood-fired Neapolitan-style pies any less impressive than their plated counterparts.
Lookout Staff Pick: Track Town Pizza
Is it the most gourmet pizza? No. Is it where Iโd take someone visiting from out of town? No. But itโs cheesy and the crust is thick. I had it for the first time in high school on a Model U.N. trip in 2002, and it resonated with me. Their garlic chicken pizza is delicious. Iโve been known to order extra of their ranch dressing and keep it in my fridge. Iโve had heated debates about this with friends, but sometimes a pizza just speaks to you, and thatโs how I feel about Track Town.

Best Happy Hour

Winner: Oakshire Public House
207 Madison St, Eugene 97402

Best Outdoor Dining
Winner: McMenamins North Bank
22 Club Rd, Eugene 97401
A view of the Willamette River rushing past welcomes you to McMenamins North Bank as you graze on tater tots and tiki drinks. Heaven.
Runner-up: beergarden.
777 W 6th Ave, Eugene 97402
Beer. Gardens. What more could you ask for? This taproom (and accompanying food cart pod) has 42 taps and hundreds of bottles of craft beer, wine, cider, kombucha and a cocktail bar for all of your sipping needs.
Lookout Staff Pick: McMenamins North Bank
My โBest Outdoor Diningโ rubric is simple: can I watch the Willamette roll by while a Hammerhead Ale does the same thing to my brain? North Bankโs deck says yes, every year, no notes. The Cajun tots alone deserve their own zip code, and the truffle fries with black garlic aioli are basically a personality trait at this point. I will perpetually be grateful for brothers Mike and Brian McMenaminโs 1983 decision that Oregon needed more pubs in weird old buildings, and 40+ years later, weโre all still reaping the benefits, one riverside pint at a time.

Best Little Treat
Winner: Sweet Life Patisserie
755 Monroe St., Eugene 97402, or the โpetiteโ store at 1609 East 19th Ave., Eugene 97403

Runner-up: Prince Pรผcklerโs Ice Cream
1605 E 19th Ave., Eugene 97403
We all scream for Eugeneโs homegrown ice cream shop, slinging scoops since 1975.
Lookout Staff Pick: Sweet Life Patisserie
Every time I walk into Sweet Life Patisserie, I oooh and ahh over literally everything. Sweet Life takes the cake (literally) for best sweet treats in Eugene, especially for those with dietary restrictions. And where else can you get cake by the slice and have ten options? My favorite is the Rhapsody cake โ dairy-free but insanely good. The other killer thing about Sweet Life is that itโs open late, a perfect alternative if youโre not into the bar scene or if you just have a late-night craving.ย

Runner-up: The Jackalope Lounge

A lot of nights, the intense match-ups happen over the pool tables upstairs. (If you want to play darts, mind their elbows.) But for the โrealโ sports, the Jackalope is a great watering hole to take in the game of the day.

Best Breakfast Spot

That rib-sticking goodness is good on any morningโฆ but maybe especially on the ones that come after particularly late nights.
Runner-up: Buddyโs Diner
1745 Coburg Rd., Eugene, 97401
Looking for a retro-forward take on the Americana experience of a classic diner? Thereโs nowhere finer than Buddyโs Diner,
Lookout Staff Pick: Brailโs
Brailโs is the winner in this category โ the coffee comes early and often, the service is good, and the omelets and potatoes hit the spot. Brailโs is a cure for what ails you. Itโs best for breakfasty items;ย lunch is more mundane.ย

Weโve already talked at length about how good Sweet Life is, with the massive case of goodies you canโt help but eye with envy in your heart. One last word on the matter, OK: cheesecake.
Runner-up: Noisette Pastry Kitchen
200 W Broadway, Eugene 97401
The pastries, mousses and tarts are eye-catching, yes. But we would recommend you stray to the savory side of the street for their must-have focaccia, caprese sandwich and goodies dictated by seasonal flavors.
Lookout Staff Pick: Juvenalโs Bakery
Delicious Mexican pastries alongside special occasion sheet cakes, all served con cariรฑo. Occasional heartier offerings as well, so be prepared to try something new.

Runner-up: Wandering Goat Coffee Co.
268 Madison St, Eugene 97402
Sure, you can go there for the coffee and the local shop vibe. Or you can post up for a metal show; your choice.
Lookout Staff Pick: Hideaway Bakery
Iโm a sucker for a coffee shop that encourages you to linger. Hideaway is just that. Maybe itโs because itโs attached to an Italian restaurant or maybe itโs the large, sun-dappled patio that always seems to have something blooming around it, but it makes me feel like Iโm in Europe if I block out the parking lot in my peripheral vision. And in the winter, you can sit by the fire inside. Heaven year-round.
