Annie graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Indiana University in 2021, where she focused on narrative journalism and the arts, learning to carefully observe scenes in theater rehearsals and from the front rows of concerts. She is interested in the legal, financial and material realities of the arts as well as quirky, revealing yarns and slices of life.

She has reported arts news and features for national and local newsrooms, including at the Seattle Times, the Washington Post and most recently as a reporting fellow for the New York Times’ Culture desk covering arts and entertainment.

Originally from Tampa, Fla., Annie is relocating to the Willamette Valley with her partner and their three cats. She was charmed by Eugene’s vibe, its natural beauty and it being a source of inspiration for a song by Sufjan Stevens.

Outside of the newsroom, Annie loves watching both classy cinema and trashy television, playing video games and painting. (If you see her in the wild, ask her about Real Housewives.)
