Better Eugene-Springfield Transportation (BEST) will host a series of town halls and safety audits Thursday, Nov. 13, to explore problems and potential solutions around local places where traffic crashes frequently occur.
The organization, an advocacy group for traffic safety, will discuss and explore River Road and Highway 99, both of which earned spots on the city of Eugene’s High Crash Network, a compilation of the city’s 15 most dangerous streets.
BEST program manager Claire Roth says the town halls are an opportunity for the public to give feedback and discuss ideas for sensible solutions.
“We’re seeing an alarming increase in pedestrians and cyclists and basically non-car driver fatalities in our community,” Roth said. “We’re looking at some of those high crash corridors and trying to talk to the community to see what folks are actually seeing on the ground.”
BEST will also be holding walk audits, touring the high-crash intersections along Highway 99 and River Road.
