Lookout Eugene-Springfield reported in September about Shift Community Cycles’ effort to raise $75,000 to keep our Free Bikes 4 Kidz program going next year. In the weeks since, the community answered in a way we will never forget. We have heard stories from so many about what a bicycle means to the kids, youth and adults in our community.

We are pleased and humbled to share that we have raised $70,000 to date, nearly closing the gap.

That support keeps kids safe while they explore their independence, build confidence and learn to navigate our community in new ways. A bicycle is never just a bicycle. A bike is just the beginning. It is access to freedom, opportunity, belonging and more often than not, joy!

In this season of giving thanks, Shift Community Cycles is grateful for every person who has supported our work, whether with a gift of $10 or $10,000, a shared post or through volunteering. Thank you for keeping Free Bikes 4 Kidz alive. We can now confidently continue our work of giving kids — and adults — a tool to use for connection to healthy, happy, affordable transportation.

This is just the beginning of what we can accomplish together. If you haven’t yet had the chance to give, we would be honored to have your help with the final $5,000 at https://bit.ly/DonateShiftCC.
