Now in its fourth year, the Eugene BRiGHT Parade will kick off at 7:30 pm on Saturday, Sept. 26th, bringing illuminated floats, glowing costumes and other works of art in motion to downtown Eugene. In partnership with the KINDR Foundation, this year’s theme is KiNDNESS – a celebration of connection, community and the small acts that make a difference.
The free, family-friendly parade will begin and end at Pearl Street and Eighth Avenue, near the Farmers’ Market Pavilion. You can preview the route here, review the parking maps, and start planning where you’ll set up to watch this year’s illuminated human- and electric-powered creations march by.
Celebrating Eugene’s Creative Community
BRiGHT Parade magic is created by local artists, schools, nonprofits, businesses, families and friends who work together to bring their ideas to life and share them with the community. From recycled to upcycled and everything in between, parade entries have grown glowier each year, fueled by creativity and DIY spirit.
This year, BRiGHT coincides with Ducks Downtown and Taste of TrackTown, along with a Vintage Market in Kesey Square, the Saturday Market and other downtown happenings, with plenty to see, do and explore throughout the day.
Want to get involved?
Roughly 50 volunteers are needed to help make the parade happen, from 4:00 pm until about 9:00 pm on Parade Day.
You can also support the parade’s all-volunteer organizing committee’s work with donations, or sponsor the parade and shine a BRiGHT spotlight on your business. This year, organizers are also raising funds for a new Parade Slug.
Then, of course, there’s the simplest way to participate: Be There!
Wear your BRiGHTest accessories, find a spot along the route, and cheer for the people who spent months making their creations glow. Then check out the AfterParty at the Farmers Market Pavilion, from 7:00-10:00 pm.
We encourage everyone to walk, bike or use public transit to avoid traffic and parking hassles! Here are your best options for getting to the parade:
BIKE
Secure your bike at the public racks, then head to your favorite spot along the parade route.
BUS
Many LTD routes serve the downtown area. To find the best route and closest stop, we recommend using the LTD Trip Planner.
RIDESHARE
For a convenient drop-off, direct your driver to a location a few blocks away from the parade route to avoid traffic.
CAR
Parking will be limited, so carpooling is a great idea. Public parking is available at several parking garages and a Lane County lot. Expect road closures near the parade route.
