The city councilor has represented Ward 5 since 2023. She said she is stepping down to focus on work and her family.
Springfield City Councilor Victoria Doyle is resigning, a spokesperson for the city announced in a press release Thursday, Aug. 7.
Doyle has represented Ward 5 since January 2023 after being elected by voters the previous year. Ward 5 encompasses an area in east Springfield between 42nd Street and Bob Straub Parkway. Her term would have run through 2026.
The press release said Doyle “is stepping down due to increased responsibilities with her employer and a desire to prioritize family commitments.”
Doyle’s city council biography states she has worked for the city of Eugene’s Public Works Engineering and Maintenance departments since 2014. It was unclear if Doyle still worked for Eugene.
Doyle did not immediately respond to a phone call seeking comment from Lookout Eugene-Springfield.
The Springfield City Council will discuss the vacancy and the interim appointment process at a public meeting after council is back in session. The council is on break until Sept. 2.
