Body found in McKenzie River identified as woman who’d been reported missing

A 27-year-old Eugene woman reported missing has been identified as the person whose body was pulled Friday, Sept. 25, from the McKenzie River, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office said.

Gina Christina Piazza had been reported missing Sept. 20. 

Piazza’s death is under investigation by the Lane County Sheriff’s Office. In a news release, the sheriff’s office said “there is no ongoing threat to the community.”

Lane County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue personnel and community members searched for days for Piazza. She was pulled from the river near Armitage Park, north of Eugene.
