Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues to correct. The county’s full ongoing reports can be accessed here.

  • Hole In The Wall Bbq at 1807 Olympic St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on April 7. The restaurant scored 97 out of 100. The inspector found that the handwashing sink in the outdoor meat smoking area was leaking and did not provide hot water at the required temperature of at least 85°F. The restaurant had been disconnecting the sink to prevent leaks and had not fixed the issue by the first reinspection. They promised to set up a temporary handwashing station until the sink was repaired. By the second reinspection, the sink was fixed and now provides hot water at the proper temperature. • Human Bean, The at 160 S 14th St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on April 7. The restaurant scored 97 out of 100. Inspectors found five containers of food powders left uncovered and two large liquid containers stored on the walk-in refrigerator floor, which must be properly covered and stored to prevent contamination. Hot water was insufficient at handwashing sinks during peak use due to a water heater issue, requiring immediate repair to ensure adequate hot water at all times. Additionally, the restroom door lacks a functioning self-closing mechanism and must be fixed to fully enclose the toilet room. These issues need prompt correction to maintain food safety and hygiene.
