Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues to correct. The county’s full ongoing reports can be accessed here.

  • Steve’s Breakfast & More at 117 S 14th St. was cited for issues during a county health inspection on April 8. The restaurant scored 71 out of 100 due to several issues. Paper towels were missing at a handwashing sink but were restocked during inspection. A worker was improperly reusing gloves but corrected this immediately. Many food containers were uncovered, and some potentially hazardous foods were stored above the safe temperature; affected food was discarded and refrigeration adjusted. Toxic materials like weed killer were improperly stored but removed. Chemical containers were unlabeled but fixed on site. Rodent bait was unsecured and discarded. Doors lacked proper screens, equipment was damaged or poorly maintained, and cleaning was insufficient in some areas. Waste receptacles were uncovered, and restroom facilities lacked proper waste bins and self-closing doors. Physical repairs and light bulb shielding were also needed and addressed.
