- Palace Coffee & Bakery @ Riverbend at 3355 Riverbend Dr. was cited for issues during a county health inspection on Sept. 13. The restaurant scored 95 out of 100. The inspector found that the display cooler was not keeping certain foods, like pasta salad and burritos, cold enough (above 41°F), which can be unsafe. The restaurant immediately removed these foods and was advised not to use the cooler for such items until it could maintain proper temperatures. Follow-up checks showed the cooler still struggled, but the staff monitored temperatures closely and rotated food every two hours. By the final inspection, the cooler was working properly, keeping foods at safe temperatures, and the issue was resolved. (view report)

Roadwork is affecting traffic near you
- Long-term projects: – Construction is happening on 36th Street between Main Street and Commercial Avenue as part of the GO Bond Street Repair Project. Work started in late April and is expected to finish by September 30. Residents can still get to their homes, but there may be temporary lane and driveway closures, no parking zones, and changes to travel routes. There may also be construction noise, dust, and heavy equipment. Advance notice will be given before any closures.
- Construction on Aspen Street between Centennial Boulevard and Tamarack Street started in mid-June. Most of the work should be done by September 4, with the whole project finished by October 31.
