Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues to correct. The county’s full ongoing reports can be accessed here.

  • Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt at 2820 Gateway St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on February 3. The restaurant scored 95 out of 100. The inspector found that the sanitizer in the three-compartment sink was not strong enough, but the staff fixed it immediately by adjusting the dispenser to the proper level. Additionally, there was dirt buildup between the yogurt machines and on the walk-in fridge floor, which needs to be cleaned regularly, preferably when food exposure is minimal, like after closing. • Bigfoot Vending at 1860 Laura St., passed a county health inspection on February 4 with no issues. (view report)

  • Lagoon Playcafe at 145 Pioneer Parkway, was cited for issues during a county health inspection on February 5. The restaurant scored 94 out of 100. The inspector found the microwave interior dirty with food residue, which must be cleaned daily. An open gallon of milk was missing a date label but was marked during the inspection. There were live drain flies in the kitchen, and pest control guidance was arranged. Packaged foods were stored directly on the floor and need to be raised at least 6 inches. The popcorn maker and waffle maker had leftover food residue and batter that must be cleaned. Lastly, a leaking faucet at the prep sink needs repair to maintain proper plumbing. (view report)

  • Lucky Buffet at 3260 Gateway St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on February 9. The restaurant scored 86 out of 100. Issues included no paper towels at handwashing sinks (corrected immediately), some foods at the buffet not kept cold enough (corrected by adding ice), unlabeled containers of white powders, uncovered self-serve foods lacking sneeze guards or lids (corrected with lids), clean bowls stored improperly on cloth, dirty fridge doors and handles needing more frequent cleaning, a broken hot water faucet at the grill station (fixed), and debris buildup in storage, cooking, and dishwashing areas requiring more frequent cleaning. All issues were addressed or require ongoing attention. (view report)

  • Gridiron Stadium Pub at 563 W Centennial Blvd., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on February 9. The restaurant scored 80 out of 100. Issues included improper storage of raw meats risking contamination, dirty ice machine and microwave, and expired ready-to-eat food that was discarded during inspection. Equipment like can openers and utensils were damaged or unsafe, and copper mugs were used with acidic drinks, which is unsafe. There was rodent evidence under the bar sink, and cleaning was insufficient in hard-to-reach areas. The men’s restroom door lacked a self-closing mechanism, walls had holes, and ceiling tiles were damaged and unsuitable for kitchens. Lighting was also below required levels. All issues require prompt correction. (view report)
