There was no evidence of any crime, the sheriff’s office said, but an investigation continues.

The sheriff’s office said May 6 that Davis’ vehicle had been discovered parked near Lookout Point Lake, which is roughly 22 miles southeast of Eugene.

Volunteers from the Eugene Mountain Rescue trekked through steep terrain to find Davis, whose body was recovered at about 1 p.m. Sunday, the sheriff’s office said.

Lane County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue staff and volunteers searched for hundreds of hours, the sheriff’s office said, with assistance provided by Eugene police, Oregon State Police and the Oregon Civil Air Patrol.

Friends and family of Davis also helped with the search, the sheriff’s office said.
