A 31-year-old Cheshire woman arrested after a reported knife attack has been charged with first-degree assault after a Lane County grand jury handed down an indictment Friday, May 8.
Jeannae Marjorie Mackay is also charged with unlawfully using a weapon after a reported April 30 assault at a residence on Noraton Road near Junction City.
A 62-year-old man sustained a head wound 3 to 4 inches long and 1 to 2 inches wide, according to a Lane County Sheriff’s Office affidavit filed in Lane County Circuit Court.
The affidavit says the man told investigators he was upstairs when he told Mackay to leave and she refused. The man received treatment at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend.
At the hospital, the man told a deputy Mackay had grabbed his Old Timer brand fixed-blade knife and hit him in the head, according to the affidavit.
After being taken into custody May 1 in Junction City and while being booked at Lane County Jail, Mackay reportedly spit in the face of a uniformed deputy, the affidavit states.
The alleged spitting resulted in a grand jury handing down an additional charge of aggravated harassment, according to court records. Mackay remained in jail as of Friday.
