A 76-year-old Reedsport man was killed Monday, Dec. 29, in a single-vehicle crash off Lorane Highway near Sutherlin Lane.

James Lee Blondell died when his 2012 Jeep Wrangler left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a tree, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday in a news release. Blondell was the only occupant in the vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.

Lane County Sheriff’s Office deputies and fire personnel responded to the crash about 5 miles southwest of Eugene at about 8:30 p.m. Monday. The cause is under investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
