On a rainy afternoon in February, Athena Aguiar was walking door to door to announce her campaign for Ward 5 in the upcoming Eugene City Council election on May 19.

I was immediately impressed that she would be asking for my vote in such inclement weather, and further impressed when she took the time to explain her reasons for tossing her hat into the ring.

She’s a young, vibrant, knowledgeable person who wants to contribute to the political process. I believe that she would be a valuable addition to the Eugene City Council. She has my vote.
