My husband and I have used the emergency department at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend, and we are very distressed about the decisions that are being made to end the contract with the local emergency doctors in favor of an out-of-state company.

We would like to know why. The doctors there have been great. They even saved my husband’s life. Our emergency department experiences have been excellent. So why are we giving up local physicians in the RiverBend ER? Whatever is happening, it does not feel good for the Eugene and Springfield communities. There is so much going on that is discouraging, saddening and frightening at RiverBend. Why add to it? I would like to hear an explanation, besides RiverBend just wanting to make more money.

I do not believe in conspiracies, but I have become more cynical in the past year, and this kind of loss in our health care system is depressing. It certainly feels like there is nothing we can do about this kind of action.
