Like countless other Eugene and Springfield residents, I have deep gratitude for the care I received from a Eugene Emergency Physicians provider.
Almost 19 years ago, I walked into the University District Emergency Department feeling dizzy and unwell. I was seen by Dr. Dan Dietel, who told me something didn’t look quite right on my EKG, and he’d decided to keep me overnight. I wound up receiving an emergency angioplasty and then quadruple bypass surgery. I credit Dr. Dietel with saving my life.
The outcry from countless other medical disciplines in our community about PeaceHealth’s indefensible position to terminate its contract with Eugene Emergency Physicians tells you all you need to know. This decision completely disregards the decades of experience this group of providers brings to bear for the emergent medical needs of this community. The costs to patient care will be tragic and unnecessary.
