Judy Newman, a thoughtful civic servant on the 4J School Board for two terms, offers reason, expertise (30 years as co-founder and co-director of Early Childhood CARES), and dedication to the board’s Guiding Beliefs and Values: “Do what’s best for all 4J students.”

Doing the best work for students is also the best for community. Judy supports Career and Technical Education, preparing students for post-high school work, as well as Oregon’s new Early Literacy Success Initiative.

Fewer than half of 4J third graders read at grade level, according to Oregon State Testing, while student performance of Oregon fourth and eighth graders on the National Assessment of Student Progress was well below average.

Judy is committed to supporting a new superintendent, a talented literacy team and classroom teachers in consistent delivery of evidence-based practices. She knows successful students become happy, productive citizens.

Vote Judy Newman for 4J school board May 20.
