The Shedd’s accessible new front entrance will open soon, while behind-the-scenes construction continues to Complete the Transformation of the 99-year-old former church complex into a vibrant cultural resource for future generations! The John and Robin Jaqua Family Fund at the OCF has issued a $500,000 challenge match to the entire community to join them to finish out the backstage, stage load-in, orchestra loft, green rooms, costume shop and parking lot work!

The Shedd took over the 70,000 square foot complex in downtown Eugene 2002 to convert it to performances and rehearsal spaces, music school classrooms, and meeting and catering facilities. Over the years, every inch of the building is being updated to make it more welcoming, more accessible, safer, and more energy efficient. With our new front door anyone or anything rolling in – from baby strollers and wheelchair users, hand-trucks to piano movers – can easily enter directly from our parking lot. Our historic Broadway entrance will be open for performances and special events, as well.

Now open 345 days a year, The Shedd presents and self-produces more than 175 performances annually, offers lessons for all ages and abilities on virtually all instruments, and rents the spaces to area non-profits and for community rites of passage. The exciting special event space directly over the new Ticket Office, will be known as the Nill Room, in honor of our late Board Member Sally Nill. It was recently christened by current Board President Sandee and Dick Gerber’s retirement party with guest looking out to Skinners Butte and all the bustling downtown activity going past.

If you are curious about what’s inside, join us for a tour. Come see how you can be part of the excitement. If The Shedd has already made a difference in your life as a performer, student, and/or audience member, please join us in meeting the Jaqua Challenge!
