Douglas Gene Baker, 43, was arrested for a Springfield shooting and robbery, facing charges of first-degree robbery and firearm possession. He was found with a pistol linked to the crime.

Roadwork is affecting traffic near you

  • Long-term projects: Mill Street is currently one-way northbound between Main Street and Centennial Boulevard due to reconstruction work, with detours in place. On Laura Street in Springfield, construction is affecting the area from milepost .120 to .339, with work expected to finish by December 31. From June 16 to about August 31, southbound Laura Street is closed to through traffic, and access from Lindale Drive to Laura Street is also closed. Northbound traffic on Laura Street remains open, with detours and temporary traffic signs in place.
