A 43-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault after deputies were called to investigate a Springfield shooting victim at a local hospital, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Monday, Aug. 11.

The man was charged with first-degree robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm, in addition to second-degree assault, according to court records. He was also charged with unlawful possession of a vehicle.

The Springfield shooting victim was at home in the 2000 block of Harbor Drive when two men attempted to rob him at gunpoint, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies were called to the hospital about the shooting victim just after midnight on Wednesday, Aug. 6.

Detectives identified the suspect in the shooting, and Eugene police found him on Friday. He had a pistol “consistent with the robbery,” according to the sheriff’s office, and was booked into Lane County Jail.

Sgt. Tim Wallace with the Lane County Sheriff’s Office said the second person involved in the reported robbery attempt has not been identified.
