Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues to correct. The county’s full ongoing reports can be accessed here.

• Ranchito Grill at 1537 Mohawk Blvd., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on July 21. The restaurant scored 90 out of 100. The inspector found that some foods, like salsa, half and half, juices, and syrups, were not kept at safe temperatures, with salsa measured between 54°F and 61°F and other items at 45°F, above the required 41°F or below 135°F. The refrigerator in the bar was not cooling properly and was being repaired. The restaurant discarded all unsafe foods and will now keep salsa cold with ice or limit how long it’s out. They must maintain all potentially hazardous foods at safe temperatures to prevent health risks. (view report)

Roadwork is affecting traffic near you

• Long-term projects: Construction is happening on 36th Street between Main Street and Commercial Avenue as part of the GO Bond Street Repair Project. Work started the week of April 27 and is expected to finish by September 30. Local residents can still get to their homes, but there will be temporary lane and driveway closures and no parking zones. You may notice changes to travel routes, construction noise, dust, and heavy equipment. Advance notice will be given before any closures.
• Construction on Aspen Street between Centennial Boulevard and Tamarack Street will start the week of June 15 as part of the GO Bond Street Repair Project. Most of the work should be done by September 4, with the whole project finished by October 31. Local access to homes will remain open, but there will be temporary lane and driveway closures, no-parking zones, and possible changes to travel routes. Expect construction noise, dust, and heavy equipment. Advance notice will be given before any closures.
