Restaurant inspections
County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues that need correction. The county’s full ongoing reports are available here.
- Ranchito Grill at 1537 Mohawk Blvd., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on Aug. 26. The restaurant scored 95 out of 100. The inspector found that some foods, such as salsa and half-and-half, were not kept at safe temperatures, with salsa reaching up to 61°F and half-and-half at 45°F, posing food safety risks. The refrigerator in the bar was not cooling properly, but was being repaired. The restaurant discarded all unsafe foods and changed its salsa policy to keep it cold or use time limits to ensure safety. After several follow-ups, the refrigerator was fixed and now keeps food at the correct temperature of 41°F or below. (view report)

Roadwork is affecting traffic near you
- Long-term projects: Construction is happening on 36th Street between Main Street and Commercial Avenue as part of the GO Bond Street Repair Project. Work started the week of April 27 and is expected to finish by September 30. Local residents can still get to their homes, but there will be temporary lane and driveway closures, as well as no-parking zones. You may notice changes to travel routes, construction noise, dust, and heavy equipment. Advance notice will be given before any closures. Construction on Aspen Street between Centennial Boulevard and Tamarack Street will start the week of June 15 and is expected to mostly finish by September 4, with the whole project done by October 31. Local access to homes will be maintained, but there will be temporary lane and driveway closures and no-parking zones. Drivers may see changes to travel routes, construction noise, dust, and heavy equipment. Advance notice will be given before any closures.
