Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues to correct. The county’s full ongoing reports can be accessed here.

  • Busy Bee Cafe at 2152 Main St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on July 15. The restaurant scored 94 out of 100. The inspector found that the handwashing sink in the north restroom did not have hot water, only 61°F, which was fixed during a reinspection with water now at 85°F or higher. Additionally, the menu lacked a proper consumer advisory warning about the risks of eating raw or undercooked animal foods like eggs and steak, and it was missing required wording about poultry, seafood, and shellfish. The restaurant must update the menu with the correct advisory before the next inspection. (view report)

  • Master Donuts at 1159 Mohawk Blvd., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on July 15. The restaurant scored 97 out of 100. During the inspection, soap was missing at an employee handwashing sink but was provided immediately. The roof hatch was left open, allowing pests potential entry, and food was stored improperly on the floor. Two refrigerators were not working, and some equipment and surfaces, including doughnut cooking equipment, had food residue and needed more frequent cleaning. Plumbing leaks were noted, including a leaking sink faucet and a non-functioning urinal. A female restroom lacked a covered waste receptacle. Ceiling tiles, walls, and floors showed damage and needed repair to maintain cleanliness and safety. (view report)

  • Sabor Latino at 1628 Main St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on July 15. The restaurant received a score of 97 out of 100. The inspector found that the mobile food unit was improperly disposing of wastewater by draining it into a rainwater downspout, without a signed agreement with the property owner for approved disposal. This was corrected by moving the unit to a new location and using a 20-gallon tank or pump to transport wastewater to an approved sewer access point at 445 Main Street in Springfield, ensuring proper and safe disposal.
