Restaurant inspections
County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues to correct. The county’s full ongoing reports can be accessed here.
- Sonic Drive-in #5917 at 2043 Olympic St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on November 23. The restaurant scored 97 out of 100. The inspector found that the employee restroom handwashing sink wasn’t working because its faucet battery needed replacement, which was fixed immediately. Additionally, several areas needed deep cleaning, including dust on the ceiling and wires above the hot dog prep station, dust behind a monitor near the prep fridge, dirt and food debris inside the walk-in cooler doors, and stained ceiling tiles with old food splatter and grease. The restaurant was instructed to clean and maintain these areas properly. (view report)
- Hawaiian Time at 1865 Olympic St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on November 23. The restaurant received a score of 97 out of 100. An inspector observed an employee chewing gum in the food preparation area, which is not allowed because it can contaminate food. The staff was reminded that eating, drinking, or using tobacco is only permitted in designated areas, and drinks must be in covered containers with handles or straws when near food prep. The employee immediately stopped chewing gum, and the issue was resolved on the spot. (view report)
