Good morning, Lookout Eugene-Springfield,
Two excellent sports stories today for you: Mylee Johannsen is a kicker on the North Eugene High School team, and she became the first girl to score for North when she went three-for-three in extra points in a game against Crescent Valley on Aug. 29. Mark Baker has the story, and the photos are great.
Meanwhile, Tyson Algerโs latest dispatch from the Ducks is on Oregon starting safety Peyton Woodyard. His dad, Gerald, played at Autzen during his time at Long Beach State. He never liked it very much, but 40 years later, with his son excelling, Gerald is changing his tune.
Brian and Kellie Cline lost their home in the Holiday Farm Fire but the Vida Cafe, which they had purchased just a few months prior, was spared. The restaurant is still vital to the healing community.
Prosecutors are silent after shutting down the case against the alleged WinCo pickpocket team. Jaime Adame looks at why this might have happened.
Annie Aguiar has her roundup of what to do in the arts and culture world this week in Eugene and Springfield, plus a bonus of movies opening. (Downton Abbey fans, rejoice! The finale comes out this weekend.)
