About 300 students at North Eugene High walked out of school this morning to protest Trump administration immigration enforcement efforts. They gathered along River Road at the Randy Papé Beltline interchange to demonstrate. Reporter Lilly St. Angelo and photographer Isaac Wasserman were there.
A court-approved settlement awarded $200,000 to four people who sued J.H. Baxter & Co., saying the wood treatment company’s polluted site diminished the value of their nearby properties. However, it’s not likely the four people will receive any payment, as the company is insolvent. Jaime Adame reports.
If you think you’ll be needing a laugh come May, comedian John Mulaney will join Mike Birbiglia and Fred Armisen in a show at the Cuthbert Amphitheater. Tickets will be available soon. Annie Aguiar has the details.

Students walked from the high school down River Road to the Beltline interchange with signs, chanting at passing cars to protest Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers arresting children and detaining immigrants. Some students have been personally affected by the fear of ICE detaining family members.
