Good evening,

Bob Passaro is taking some well-deserved time off, so I get to step in and take the reins of Lookout PM for a few days.

What’s been going on at Lookout today? Good question. Here’s what we have:

EWEB has been drawing on the McKenzie River as its only water supply, well, forever. But now, as Lillian Schrock-Clevenger reports, it’s looking to tap into the Willamette River and build a treatment plant in Glenwood.

Eugene School District 4J has some financial issues to figure out. The latest is $10-$20 million in cuts, on top of the $30 million it already made for the next school year. Lilly St. Angelo reports that the district’s budget committee is pushing back its next meeting until April 8 to give members more time to understand what’s going on.

I’m not a big concert person. I love music, but have never been into live music. Too many people, too close, usually in a space that’s too warm. Not for me. One of the few concerts I’ve been to, however, is Bob Dylan. It was October 1, 1994, and he played Ithaca College in Upstate New York. I went with a buddy of mine, Steve Buchholz, who was a reporter at the Star-Gazette. As we were looking for the ticket window, I ran into a high school friend who was in school at Ithaca and working the event, who got us in free. So I got to see Dylan from the fourth row, for free. Not bad.

Why am I mentioning this? Because Dylan is coming to Eugene’s Cuthbert Amphitheater on June 9. Annie Aguiar has all the details. Not sure how an 85-year-old will compare with the 53-year-old version I saw, but in the end, it’s still Bob Dylan.
