Lookout PM: Bowtech moving to Texas

Good evening,

More bad economic news: Grace Chinowsky reports that Bowtech Archery, which makes and distributes bows and gear, is moving to Texas. The company was founded in Eugene in 1999 and has a 50,000 square-foot headquarters off Highway 99. Its final day of business is Sept. 5.

The justice beat was busy today as Jaime Adame reports that Eugene police arrested a man who they say had three handguns, about 60 grams of fentanyl, four grams of methamphetamine and a stolen motorized scooter — along with $30,100 hidden in his underwear.

Jaime also reports that Springfield police are looking for an unidentified driver who twice struck a married couple Thursday while they were walking on Sixth Street. Randall Alan Fultz, 73, was killed in the incident.

Our friends at the Oregon Capital Chronicle report that Gov. Tina Kotek’s data center advisory committee won’t recommend a statewide moratorium on new data centers, despite local action and growing calls from Democratic lawmakers, conservation groups, farmers and residents in data-center-heavy areas.
