Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues to correct. The county’s full ongoing reports can be accessed here.

  • Burger King #9243 at 5851 Main St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on June 1. The restaurant received a score of 95 out of 100. The inspector found a leaking mop sink due to a broken backflow prevention device, which was not fixed by the first reinspection. The restaurant was required to repair the plumbing immediately to meet safety standards. By the second reinspection on June 2, the backflow prevention device was properly repaired, ensuring the plumbing system is now functioning correctly. (view report)

  • La Reina Del Sazon at 4301 Main St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on June 1. The restaurant scored 92 out of 100. During the inspection, a handwashing sink was blocked by a bucket and cloth, preventing proper use; this was fixed immediately, and staff were reminded to keep sinks clear and only use them for handwashing. Raw meats were initially stored above ready-to-eat foods, risking contamination, but were rearranged correctly during the inspection. Additionally, some containers with food powders were unlabeled; staff were instructed to clearly label all food containers removed from original packaging to ensure proper identification. Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • Long-term projects: Construction is happening on 36th Street between Main Street and Commercial Avenue as part of the GO Bond Street Repair Project. Work started the week of April 27 and is expected to finish by September 30. Local access to homes will remain open, but there will be temporary lane and driveway closures, no-parking zones, and possible changes to travel routes. Residents may notice construction noise, dust, and heavy equipment. Advance notice will be given before any closures.
