Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues to correct. The county’s full ongoing reports can be accessed here.

  • Track Town Pizza at 5809 A St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on March 23. The restaurant scored 94 out of 100. Inspectors found a handwashing sink being used improperly to empty a spray bottle, which was corrected immediately. A spray bottle containing toxic chemicals was unlabeled but was labeled during the inspection. Food items like shortening and flour were stored on the floor instead of at least 6 inches off the ground to prevent contamination. Some scoops used for flour and spices lacked handles or had handles touching the food; all scoops must have handles kept out of the food to maintain cleanliness. (view report)

  • Gridiron Grill & Taphouse at 2816 Main St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on March 23. The restaurant scored 76 out of 100. Inspectors found employees drinking from unapproved cups in food prep areas, handwashing sinks blocked by items, and raw meats stored improperly above ready-to-eat foods, risking contamination. Some foods were uncovered, and kitchen utensils were not properly sanitized. Toxic materials were unlabeled, and some food containers lacked labels. There was a gap under an exterior door allowing pests, and scoops without handles were used. Equipment had gaps or damage making cleaning difficult. Dirty mop water was improperly disposed outside, and the facility lacked a proper mop sink. Repairs and cleaning improvements were needed for walls, floors, and ceilings. All issues were addressed or discussed during inspection. (view report)
