Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues to correct. The county’s full ongoing reports can be accessed here.

  • Sharky’s Pub at 4221 Main St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on Oct. 4. The restaurant scored 82 out of 100 due to several issues: the dishwasher was not properly sanitizing with chlorine; butter was left out at unsafe temperatures for over 12 hours and discarded during inspection; cooked chili was kept beyond the 7-day safe limit and discarded; a toxic spray bottle in the restroom was unlabeled but corrected; some refrigerators lacked working thermometers; kitchen utensils had melted handles needing replacement; residue buildup was found under equipment requiring more frequent cleaning; and the kitchen floor was worn and needs repair. All critical issues were addressed or corrected during the inspection. (view report)

  • Lucky Lous Deli at 4215 Main St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on Oct. 4. The restaurant scored 97 out of 100. The inspector noted the restaurant initially lacked a proper test kit to measure sanitizer strength but obtained chlorine test strips during the visit. Restroom doors did not have self-closing mechanisms and need repair or replacement. Kitchen lighting was too dim at 24 lux and must be increased to meet state standards for safety and cleanliness.
