Community crime report

Roadwork is affecting traffic near you

• Long-term projects: – At W 5th Avenue and Adams Street, construction for Whiteaker Commons has closed parking on the west side of Adams between W 6th and W 5th, and on the east side from W 5th Alley north. W 5th Alley is closed between Monroe and Adams. Pedestrians can’t use the east side of Adams at W 5th Alley or the south side of W 5th Avenue from Adams toward Monroe. Pedestrians can walk on the west side of Adams from W 6th to W 5th, with detours for eastbound foot traffic. The eastbound bike lane on W 5th Avenue is closed near the construction area.
• Adams Street is partially closed from W 6th to W 5th on the west side and from W 5th Alley north on the east side. W 5th Alley is closed between Monroe and Adams. Pedestrians can’t use the east side of Adams at W 5th Alley or the south side of W 5th Avenue from Adams to midblock near Monroe. Pedestrians heading west on the south side of W 5th Avenue should detour to the north side at Monroe. The eastbound bike lane on W 5th Avenue is closed near Adams; bicyclists should detour north on Adams to W 4th, then east to Monroe, and south back to W 5th.
• Near 18th and Hilyard Street, construction is happening this week. Lanes may be reduced to a single lane, so expect delays. Bikes and pedestrians should follow detours and signs around closed areas.
• At the intersection of Mill Street and Broadway near Whole Foods, construction continues this week. Crews are enlarging islands and installing new stormwater infrastructure on the south side of Broadway between Mill and Patterson. Most work happens from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., with some daytime utility work. Eastbound traffic is reduced to one lane using the center lane. Signs and audible signals will help guide drivers and pedestrians.
