A 42-year-old Cottage Grove man died Sunday, Oct. 4, when the motorcycle he was riding crashed near Waldo Lake.

Ryan Lee Foster died at the scene, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Callers at about 4:40 p.m. Sunday reported a crash involving a single motorcycle and rider near Waldo Lake Road and the Shadow Bay access road, roughly 55 miles southeast of Eugene.

Bystanders given instructions by sheriff’s office dispatchers attempted CPR on an unconscious Foster, but he was pronounced dead after firefighter medics arrived at about 5:15 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
