Firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze Sunday, June 21, that forced residents from their duplex homes and burned a vacant structure near Broadway and Grant Street in west Eugene, Eugene Springfield Fire said in a news release.
Bystanders called for help just after 7:30 p.m. to report a fire at an abandoned home. Eugene Springfield Fire arrived to find propane tanks fueling the fire.
The fire involved two homes, leading to a second alarm, as firefighters battled a blaze that extended into the second floor and attic.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Eugene Springfield Fire Chief Mike Caven said Monday the fire caused heavy damage to the duplex, leaving the families living there displaced. The vacant home will most likely be torn down, Caven said.
