A 31-year-old man has been charged with luring a minor after texting someone he thought was a 15-year-old sex worker but who was actually a Eugene police officer, police said.
Steven Michael Johnson, of Springfield, sent a text message Monday, Oct. 12, asking about hourly rates. And after being told by the undercover officer he was texting a 15-year-old girl, he asked whether he could pick up the girl at her school, police said in a news release.Â
Johnson went to an agreed meeting location, then drove to the school before arriving at another agreed-upon meeting location, police said. He was arrested by a Eugene police detective.
Johnson was charged Tuesday in Lane County Circuit Court with luring a minor and first-degree online sexual corruption of a child, both felonies.
