The property insurer for Lane Community College has alleged negligence by construction contractors in a lawsuit seeking at least $1.4 million after damage to multiple classrooms and offices from a water line coming apart in 2024.

Defendants in the lawsuit, Harvey & Price Co. and Fortis Construction Inc., should have known that a water supply line in the college’s Health Professions Building wasn’t properly installed, the lawsuit alleges.

A Sept. 21, 2024, water leak on the building’s third floor caused the damage, with the college receiving payment from insurer Property and Casualty Coverage for Education, the lawsuit states.

The insurer filed the lawsuit Sept. 18, 2026, in Lane County Circuit Court.
