A fire that damaged a home early Thursday, Aug. 20, about 8 miles west of Junction City, is being investigated as possible arson, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies responded about 4 a.m. to the 25000 block of Ferguson Road. Firefighters with Lane Fire Authority found the blaze burning only the back of the home, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office in a news release called the fire “suspicious in nature.”

“There were no fatalities during this incident,” Sgt. Codey Crawford said in an email. He declined to share additional details, citing the ongoing investigation.
