The brewery had closed its Eugene pub last September with plans to open a new location in town by 2026. That time has come, as the company announced Wednesday an upcoming “sports-forward” brewpub.

After a nearly year-long hiatus, Hop Valley Brewing announced its return to Eugene with a new brewpub opening at 5th Street Market Alley later this summer, according to a Wednesday, June 10 press release.

Hop Valley closed its pub at 990 W. First Ave. last September, stating its intent to reopen at a new Eugene location within a year. 

The 5th Street Market Alley brewpub is expected to start welcoming patrons in early August. It will be inside the Market Alley (across the street from 5th Street Public Market) at 550 Pearl St., Suite 150. The space was formerly occupied by Heritage Distilling, which closed its Eugene tasting rooms in December.

“We’re thrilled to be opening a new Hop Valley pub in such a central Eugene location,” stated Megan McKenna, Hop Valley Brewing’s senior brand manager. “We want it to feel like a true local hangout — a place to grab great beer and food, catch up with friends, watch the game, and be part of community events right here in the Alley.”

The upcoming location will be a “sports-forward brewpub” and “home-base for Ducks fans, craft beer lovers, and community events year-round,” per the release. Expect plenty of TVs to watch the game and a full food menu alongside Hop Valley’s brews, including Dang Green IPA, the official craft beer of University of Oregon athletics.

Hop Valley’s recent announcement comes after two major ownership changes in the last decade. The Springfield-based brewery was founded in 2009 and acquired by MillerCoors in 2016. In 2024, Tilray Brands, a global pharmaceutical company, bought Hop Valley from MillerCoors and shut down production at the brewery’s facility on First Avenue. 

In its 2024 acquisition announcement, Tilray CEO Irwin D. Simon said with the Hop Valley acquisition, the company’s “beer business is expected to grow to 15 million cases annually, cementing Tilray Beverages as the #1 craft brewer in the Pacific Northwest.”

Tilray launched in 2013 as a Canadian medical cannabis producer and has since diversified its operations, acquiring more than a dozen craft beer brands since 2020. The company now spans five continents.

Alongside the upcoming brewpub, Hop Valley’s original brewery and pub at 980 Kruse Way, Springfield, remains open.
