QuickTake:

The brewery plans to look for a new location downtown, but no details yet. Also, tickets are available for a farm-to-table salmon dinner; and Provisions will host local vendors during a showcase at its 5th Street Market store.

Thursday, Sept. 4, will be the last day of operation for Hop Valley Brewing’s Eugene pub at 990 W. First Ave., though the company plans to reopen at a new Eugene location within a year.

“The brand plans to close the co-located pub in favor of a more centrally located, highly trafficked downtown area in Eugene within the next 12 months,” a Hop Valley spokesperson said in an email. “The brand is excited to take this opportunity to reimagine its presence.”

Hop Valley’s Springfield location remains open. The company’s production facility at the Eugene location closed in April following a change in ownership. The spokesperson said the pub closure will affect fewer than 20 full and part-time employees at the Eugene location, and the company will likely offer current employees a position when the new location opens.

The spokesperson said no information was available on where the new Eugene location would be, but they did say the company was looking at several options with a goal of the new location having similar features as the Springfield location.

Hop Valley was founded in Springfield in 2009. In 2016, Hop Valley was acquired by MillerCoors. In 2024, Tilray Brands bought Hop Valley from MillerCoors and shut down production at the brewery’s facility on West First Avenue. Tilray Brands is a global company that owns cannabis and craft beer brands.

The brand recently launched Dang Green IPA, the first official beer of University of Oregon Athletics, which can be found on tap at Autzen Stadium on game days, and in stores throughout Oregon.

Hentze Family Farm salmon dinner

Tickets are available for the 2025 Salmon Dinner at Hentze Family Farm. For $150, diners can purchase a seat for the dinner, to be held 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at 30065 Hentze Lane in Junction City.

Ninkasi chef Chris Spalding will prepare five courses plus five beverage pairings. Hentze’s website says they are still determining the exact courses but “the star of the show will be fresh, wild, Oregon salmon and our own farm’s Summer Succotash.” The 42-acre farm in Junction City was established in 1902 by Johan and Irene Hentze.

Specialty Food Showcase at Provisions

Every few months, Provisions welcomes local vendors to set up booths in the store, offering customers samples and a way to interact with the vendors.

The fall Specialty Food Showcase will be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7 at Provisions Market Hall in the 5th Street Public Market. Past showcases have included flavored salt from Abraham’s, honey from Ambroson Apiaries, Provisions’ own imported olive oils and flavored vinegars, and much more.
