As someone who had the opportunity to work with Callee Ackland, I can speak to her character firsthand. During our time working together, I saw that Ackland was willing to do the right thing even when it was difficult. She is determined to help people facing difficult situations, and she has the focus and persistence to keep things moving in the right direction.

That is exactly the kind of person Springfield needs on its City Council.

Housing costs continue to put pressure on everyone in Oregon right now. We as residents of Springfield are in desperate need of a voice that represents us with decisions that affect our homes, our finances and our futures. Ackland understands these struggles, not just as an advocate for tenants, but as a renter herself! With her perspective she can fill that gap in our local government.

Ackland wants to pursue practical solutions to make housing more affordable, protect renters from unsafe living conditions and hold landlords accountable for providing homes that meet basic standards. These are not unreasonable demands, these are necessities. People should be able to afford a place to live and feel safe in their own homes without having to fight an uphill battle just to get basic problems addressed.

I respect Ackland in that she doesn’t shy away from doing what is right just because it is too much work. She cares about people who find themselves in bad situations, and she has the determination to keep working toward solutions instead of looking the other way.

Springfield deserves leadership that understands the challenges ordinary working people face and is willing to stand up for them. I believe Callee Ackland will bring that integrity to City Council.
