As a union leader and advocate for working people, I pay close attention to who is willing to show up and listen to our community. That’s one of the reasons I’m supporting Callee Ackland for Springfield City Council Ward 4.
My experience in the labor movement has taught me that good leadership comes down to a few simple things: listening to people, treating them with respect, and rolling up your sleeves to get the work done. That’s what I see in Ackland.
She has been doing the work in Springfield already. She serves on the Planning Commission, works with the Springfield Eugene Tenant Association and has been involved in the effort to protect our public library. Her campaign focuses on three important issues: affordability, livability and sustainability.
I also appreciate that Ackland understands something I’ve seen throughout my time in the labor movement: People need a voice at the table. Whether you’re a renter, a homeowner, a city employee or a small business owner, decisions made at city hall affect your everyday life.
I’m supporting Ackland because I believe Springfield needs someone who will listen, show up, and fight for working people. She has the experience, the perspective and the commitment to do exactly that.
I hope you’ll join me in voting for Callee Ackland for Springfield City Council, Ward 4.
