In the news story about efforts to repeal state permit fees for paddleboarders and flatwater kayakers, petitioner Benjamin Roche of Albany said: “We have a constitutional right to access state waters. I think this new law is less about fighting invasive species — which I fully support — than just another way to raise revenue.”
Yes, the fees are to raise revenue for the purpose of fighting invasive species, which the petitioner says he supports. I think that was made clear. I really do not understand folks who do not comprehend the concept of taxes and certain fees to citizens.
No taxes, no fees equals no revenue. No revenue, no clean/safe waterways, no clean streets, no police officers, no fire departments and the list goes on.
