QuickTake:
While Oregon football is on a bye week, star wideout Evan Stewart took a shift at the local golden arches in a scheduled appearance.
Ducks football wide receiver Evan Stewart appeared Thursday evening, Oct. 1, through the drive-thru window of the Broadway McDonald’s in Eugene.
The senior, who this season has racked up 278 yards and three touchdowns on 22 receptions for the Ducks, first took orders from customers at the counter before pivoting to the drive-thru window, where he passed orders to fans in cars — including teammate Jeremiah McClellan.
“I didn’t know (McClellan) was coming by, but everybody kept saying they would come by and play around,” Stewart said, as he spent some free time slinging burgers in a scheduled media appearance.
Kara Campbell, the owner of the McDonald’s location, said she’s long wanted a Ducks player to do a meet-and-greet.
“For me, we do a lot of community stuff, and it’s really important for me to provide opportunities — not only to my crew … but to the community around here,” she said.
Stewart returned to the Ducks this season after a leg injury cost him his 2025 season. And now he’s part of the squad chasing the program’s first national championship.
“This community has poured into me as much as anything,” Stewart said. “I’ve spent a lot of time here, and unexpectedly, too. It’s really grown as another home for me, and I just wanted to give back.”
One University of Oregon junior, Darius Li, an advertising major, made a special stop at the McDonald’s
“I had to see E-Stew,” Li said after ordering from Stewart. “He’s been here for a couple of years now, and it’s my third year. I think it’s fun to see players being part of the community.”
The Ducks have a bye this week after their win over USC in Los Angeles and will face UCLA Oct. 10 at Autzen Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
