Good morning,
At 70, K.C. Taylor isn’t slowing down. The Eugene man still logs 10-mile training runs, wins his age division in races, and hits times that would impress even much younger runners. Leo Heffron reports that Taylor takes mountain runs during breaks from his truck-driving job and travels across the country for marathons. It’s the latest in our series on senior athletes.
Mushrooms. Monarch butterflies. Kelp forests. Eugene artist Olga Volchkova treats them all like saints. Volchkova is trained in traditional Russian religious icon painting and celebrates the connection between plants, animals and fungi. Leo reports on her new exhibition at Karin Clarke Gallery that shows off this connection.
Ballots are either in the hands of voters, sitting in a mailbox or on the way. Mine came over the weekend and it’s all ready to drop off. Remember, you can track the status of your ballot here. We are nearing the end of our voter guide for this cycle. Today, Leo has a look at the city council races in Oakridge.
Our friends at the Oregon Capital Chronicle report on an election controversy in Washington County where a deepfake video is causing issues. Nafisa Fai spoke recently at an event in Minnesota, but a video was altered to show her standing in front of an upside-down American Flag.
