Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues to correct. The county’s full ongoing reports can be accessed here.

  • Time Thai Cuisine at 3831 Main St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on Sept. 22. The restaurant scored 95 out of 100 with some issues noted. Scoops used for sugar and salt had handles touching the food or were in improper containers; all scoops must have handles kept out of food. Freezer equipment had ice buildup and a broken gasket needing repair. Two non-food-grade containers were used for dry goods and must be replaced. Vent covers had greasy residue and require more frequent cleaning. The restroom door’s self-closing mechanism was broken and must be fixed. The kitchen ceiling was textured and had aluminum foil on surfaces, which must be smooth and cleanable. Non-functional appliances must be removed. (view report)

  • Bates Catering Kitchen at 1420 30th St., passed a county health inspection on Sept. 23 with no issues. (view report)

  • Fins Drive In at 4090 Main St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on Sept. 27. The restaurant scored 76 out of 100 due to several issues. Food workers were not washing hands properly, including after wiping surfaces, but this was corrected during inspection. A handwashing sink was misused for cleaning utensils instead of hands, which was also fixed. Some foods like sliced tomatoes and lettuce were stored at unsafe temperatures and discarded. The consumer advisory about raw or undercooked foods was missing the word “shellfish.” The rear door was left open, risking pest entry. Flour was stored on the floor, scoops were improperly stored in food, and a female restroom lacked a covered waste bin. Walls, ceilings, and floors need repair and proper finishing for cleanliness.
